Our Policies

  1. Parties and Scope of Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Agreement”) form a binding contract between Meaningful Connections Ltd. (“Meaningful Connections,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and each individual who registers for our matchmaking and introduction services (the “Services”). In this Agreement:

(a) “Participant” refers to the individual receiving or taking part in the Services.

(b) “Purchaser” refers to the individual or entity responsible for payment.

(c) “Caregiver” refers to a person providing support to a Participant.

(d) “Authorized Representative” refers to a guardian, conservator, power of attorney holder, or other individual with documented legal authority to act on a Participant’s behalf.

(e) “User” or “you” encompasses any of the foregoing individuals, as well as any person accessing our website or digital platforms.

  1. How You Accept

By completing and submitting your intake form, you agree to be bound by this Agreement. If you do not accept these terms, you should not register for or use the Services.

  1. Eligible Signatories

The intake form must specify whether the individual accepting is acting as the Participant, Purchaser, Caregiver, or Authorized Representative. Each role carries distinct obligations: a Purchaser bears responsibility for all fees; a Participant is accountable for their own conduct; a Caregiver is responsible for statements and commitments they personally make; and an Authorized Representative warrants that their authority is valid and current and agrees to furnish supporting documentation upon request.

Where the Purchaser and Participant are not the same person, the Purchaser affirms that the Participant wishes to participate, that the Participant has been given (or will be given) a clear and accessible summary of the applicable rules, and that the Purchaser holds all consents and authority needed to enroll the Participant.

  1. Participant Acknowledgment and Self-Determination

When someone other than the Participant makes the purchase, Meaningful Connections will generally seek a separate, accessible acknowledgment directly from the Participant. This acknowledgment may be completed digitally, with communication assistance, or through another documented format.

A support person may help explain the acknowledgment or assist with technology but should not answer on the Participant’s behalf unless that person holds proper legal authorization consistent with applicable law.

Meaningful Connections is committed to respecting each Participant’s autonomy. When a Participant is able to express a current preference regarding participation, privacy, caregiver involvement, communication, or a prospective match, we will generally honor that preference unless law, documented authority, or a genuine safety concern dictates otherwise.

If a Participant clearly indicates an unwillingness to participate, we reserve the right to pause or discontinue the Services regardless of who made the payment.

  1. Age and Geographic Requirements

The Services are available only to individuals who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly permit minors to create accounts or submit personal data. Matchmaking services are currently offered exclusively within Ontario, Canada.

  1. Description of Services

Meaningful Connections is neither a dating application nor a healthcare provider. We offer personalized, supported pathways to friendship, social connection, and romantic dating.

  1. How Matching Works

We use the information gathered during intake process to identify potential friendship, dating, or combined introductions. Factors we may consider include age, geographic location, willingness to travel, personal interests, relationship goals, communication style, living arrangements, caregiver involvement preferences, support considerations, and scheduling availability.

We will share a proposed-match profile—including a photograph and a written description of the prospective match—without first confirming mutual interest. However, we will not disclose a proposed match’s name or contact details until both individuals have confirmed their interest. Once mutual interest is established, we will share each person’s name and contact information, and each individual then independently decides whether to initiate communication or arrange a meeting.

A proposed match does not constitute an endorsement, certification, recommendation, guarantee of compatibility, or indication that the other person is interested. Participants and their families communicate with one another directly. Meaningful Connections does not monitor or supervise private messages, transportation arrangements, outings, physical contact, financial transactions, travel, cohabitation, or the course of any relationship.

  1. Proposed-Match Profiles

A proposed-match profile may contain the Participant’s photograph, age, city of residence, connection objectives, general living situation, and a brief personal description.

The designated point of contact may be the Participant or both or both the Participant and the Caregiver. By providing or approving profile content, each person consents to its disclosure to prospective matches for introduction purposes.

Recipients may use profile information solely to evaluate or pursue the introduction. Recipients may not post, sell, distribute, scrape, solicit, harass, or use the information for any other purpose.

  1. No Guarantees

We make no promises regarding the number, timing, frequency, or type of matches; whether any match will respond; whether a meeting will take place; or whether any friendship, romantic relationship, marriage, or other outcome will result.

A Participant may remain enrolled even when no suitable match is available. Membership density, geography, age, individual preferences, support arrangements, and other variables may yield few introductions or none at all. The absence of a match or relationship does not constitute a breach of this Agreement and does not give rise to a refund.

  1. Truthfulness of Information

Users must supply accurate, complete, and up-to-date information and must promptly correct any material changes. Users may not impersonate another person, use a misleading photograph, conceal materially relevant information, misrepresent legal authority, or knowingly allow inaccurate profile content to remain.

We may rely on submitted information without independently verifying every statement and may ask for clarification or supporting documentation.

  1. Background Screening

At the time of enrollment, Meaningful Connections requires each Participant to submit a criminal record and a judicial matters check. Any criminal record may render an individual ineligible to participate in the Services, and, in such circumstances, any payments made to Meaningful Connections may be refunded. We do not currently screen Purchasers or Caregivers.

We do not currently conduct independent identity verification, and background screening is not repeated on a recurring schedule. Background databases may be incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, unavailable, or incorrectly associated with a given individual. A screening may fail to reveal unreported conduct, pending matters, civil claims, financial exploitation, online behavior, or future actions.

A completed screening does not certify, clear, endorse, or guarantee any individual. We reserve the right to deny, restrict, suspend, or terminate participation based on screening results or any other lawful concern.

  1. Legal Capacity and Personal Consent

Participation in the Services does not constitute a legal or clinical finding that a Participant possesses or lacks the capacity to contract, consent to sexual activity, marry, manage finances, travel, live independently, or make any other decision.

No Purchaser, Caregiver, or Authorized Representative may substitute their own consent for a Participant’s personal consent regarding friendship, romance, physical affection, sexual activity, marriage, gifts, financial transactions, or private communication when the law requires the Participant’s own consent.

  1. Code of Conduct

All participants must abide by the following code of conduct:

Prohibited conduct includes violence, threats, harassment, bullying, stalking, discrimination, retaliation, coercion, unwanted sexual or romantic advances, nonconsensual physical contact, pressure to give money or gifts, scams, blackmail, impersonation, misuse of private information, recording without consent, disruptive behavior, weapons, illegal drugs, unauthorized alcohol, unauthorized guests, and attempts to circumvent restrictions.

An individual must cease contact with anyone who requests it and may not pressure another Participant for money, account credentials, passwords, banking information, housing, transportation, significant gifts, sexual images, or other items of value.

These standards may extend beyond official activities when conduct materially affects eligibility, another participant, staff, or the broader community.

  1. Reporting and Protective Measures

Concerns may be reported to info@meaningfulconnections.ca

We may document a report, request additional information, restrict contact between parties, cancel an introduction, require additional support measures, remove a participant, suspend a Service, terminate participation, contact designated support persons, emergency services, law enforcement, or adult-protection authorities, or take any other reasonable action.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to respond to suspected abuse, exploitation, a credible threat, serious harm, an emergency, or a legal obligation.

We do not guarantee a formal investigation, any particular process or outcome, absolute confidentiality, or disclosure of another person’s private information.

Call 911 or local emergency services whenever immediate assistance is required.

  1. Privacy and Caregiver Communications

Our Privacy Policy governs the collection and use of personal information and is incorporated into this Agreement by reference.

  1. Account Security and Intellectual Property

Users are responsible for safeguarding their account credentials. Paid access may not be shared, sold, transferred, scraped, reverse-engineered, or used to develop a competing product or service.

Meaningful Connections owns or holds licenses to all content and materials provided through or in connection with the Services. Such content is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, service mark, patent, and other intellectual property laws. Users may not use any marks, logos, domain names, or trademarks associated with the Services without our prior written consent.

If a User downloads or prints any content or materials, the User must preserve all copyright and proprietary notices contained therein. All rights not expressly granted in this Agreement are reserved.

Users may not copy, record, publish, sell, distribute, create derivative works from, use to train artificial intelligence systems, or otherwise commercially exploit our materials without prior written permission.

  1. Fees and Payment

By providing a payment method, the Purchaser authorizes Meaningful Connections to charge the stated fees and any applicable renewals. Fees are generally billed in advance, and access may be suspended following a failed or disputed payment.

  1. Automatic Renewal and Minimum Commitments

Services renew automatically until canceled. We will send notice to the email address on file at least thirty (30) days before each renewal date.

  1. Cancellation

You may cancel or manage a paid subscription at any time as follows: [MC to populate.]

  1. Refund Policy

Except where required by applicable law, we do not issue prorated or partial refunds for voluntary cancellation, nonuse, missed Services, lack of matches, declined introductions, or termination resulting from a violation of this Agreement.

  1. Suspension and Termination

We may refuse enrollment, limit specific Services, require additional support, suspend access, or terminate participation for any lawful reason related to eligibility, payment, conduct, safety, inaccurate information, support needs, capacity, misuse, or operational requirements.

Advance warnings are at our discretion. We may act immediately when prompt action is reasonably warranted. Termination for a violation does not give rise to a refund except where required by law.

  1. Assumption of Risk

Social connection, friendship, dating, online communication, and interpersonal relationships involve both foreseeable and unforeseeable risks. These risks include, without limitation, rejection, emotional distress, harassment, discrimination, stalking, coercion, sexual misconduct, physical injury, illness, transportation incidents, theft, privacy violations, scams, fraud, financial exploitation, identity theft, misrepresentation, abuse, and criminal conduct.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, participants knowingly and voluntarily assume the risks inherent in participating in the Services, communicating with others, meeting in person, traveling, dating, forming relationships, sharing personal information, and using third-party platforms.

  1. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS. MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, COMPATIBILITY, SAFETY, AND RESULTS.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL OPERATE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION OR ERROR; THAT USER-SUBMITTED OR DATABASE INFORMATION IS ACCURATE; THAT SCREENING PROCESSES WILL IDENTIFY EVERY POTENTIAL CONCERN; THAT ANY PARTICIPANT WILL RECEIVE A MATCH; OR THAT HARMFUL CONDUCT WILL NOT OCCUR.

  1. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, FACILITATORS, MATCHMAKERS, COACHES, VOLUNTEERS, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, SUCCESSORS, AND ASSIGNS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES; LOST OPPORTUNITIES; LOST INCOME; LOSS OF DATA; REPUTATIONAL HARM; OR DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE INDEPENDENT ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF PARTICIPANTS OR THIRD PARTIES.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT PAID FOR THE AFFECTED PARTICIPANT DURING THE SIX MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100).

Nothing in this section limits liability that applicable law does not permit to be limited, including liability for fraud or willful misconduct.

  1. Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, any Purchaser, Caregiver, or Authorized Representative acting in their individual capacity agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold Meaningful Connections harmless from any third-party claims arising out of that person’s materially false statements, unlawful conduct, breach of this Agreement, unauthorized disclosure, fraud, infringement of third-party rights, or unauthorized commitments purportedly made on behalf of Meaningful Connections.

This indemnification obligation does not extend to claims arising from Meaningful Connections’ own conduct where applicable law prohibits such indemnification.

  1. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The parties irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of competent jurisdiction located in Toronto, Ontario.

  1. Amendments

We may revise this Agreement prospectively and will provide additional notice or seek renewed consent when required by law or when a change materially affects recurring billing, dispute resolution, or significant rights.

  1. How to Reach Us

General inquiries, billing questions, cancellation requests, safety reports, and legal notices may be directed to info@meaningfulconnections.ca

Your Choice

You decide whether you want to participate. You decide whether you want to talk to or meet a proposed match. You can say no

If you do not want to participate anymore, tell us.

When there is a possible match

Meaningful Connections may show you a profile of someone who could be a possible friendship or dating match.

This does not mean that person has already decided they want to meet you.

If you are both interested, we will share your names and contact information and you can decide if and how to meet. You both decide what happens next.

A match is not a guarantee

We try to find people who may be a good match for you, but we cannot promise that you will receive a match or that a match will become a friendship or relationship.

Honesty

Give us true and current information about yourself.

Tell us if important information changes.

Do not pretend to be someone else or use a photo that is misleading.

Respect when someone says no

If someone says no, stop, or asks for space, respect their choice.

Do not keep calling, texting, messaging, touching, or asking after someone has asked you to stop.

Ask before touching

Ask before hugging, kissing, or touching someone.

Both people get to decide what they are comfortable with.

Someone can change their mind at any time.

Do not pressure anyone

Do not pressure someone to date you, spend time with you, touch you, have sexual contact, give you something, or do something they do not want to do.

Do not ask for money or personal information

Do not pressure another Participant for money, passwords, banking information, account access, housing, transportation, expensive gifts, sexual pictures, or other valuable things.

Do not scam or trick another Participant.

Protect people’s privacy

Information you receive about a proposed match is private.

Do not post, sell, share, or use someone else's profile, photo, contact information, messages, or personal information for another purpose without permission.

Do not record someone without their permission.

No bullying or threats

Do not threaten, harass, stalk, bully, discriminate against, scare, blackmail, or retaliate against another person.

Violence and unwanted sexual or romantic behaviour are not allowed.

Your safety matters

Meaningful Connections requires Participants to complete a criminal record and judicial matters check, but a background check cannot tell us everything about a person and does not guarantee safety.

Use your own judgment and ask for support when you need it.

Use support

You can ask a trusted person or Caregiver for help with things like communication, technology, transportation, money, boundaries, or meeting someone.

A support person can help you understand information, but your personal choices about friendship, dating, affection, sexual activity, and private communication are yours when the law requires your own consent.

Report concerns

Tell a trusted person or contact info@meaningfulconnections.ca if someone pressures you, asks for money, scares you, touches you without permission, will not stop contacting you, or makes you feel unsafe.

Emergency

Call 911 or local emergency services if you or someone else is in immediate danger.
